Signing in

How to create an account, sign in, and understand the relationship between your account, workspaces, and members.

Penling uses email-based authentication. There are no passwords — every sign-in sends a one-time link to your email address.

Alternatively you can use one of the listed Social Sign-Ons (Google, Microsoft or Github) for easier one-click authentication.

Creating an account

Go to penling.app and enter your email address. You'll receive a sign-in link within a few seconds. Click the link to authenticate and land in Penling.

If this is your first sign-in, you'll be prompted to create a workspace.

Workspaces

A workspace is a shared environment for a team. It contains all of that team's initiatives, members, and settings. Most people belong to one workspace; you can belong to multiple.

When you sign in, Penling opens your most recently active workspace. You can switch workspaces from the workspace switcher in the top-left of the nav.

Inviting members

Workspace admins can invite members from Settings → Members. Invited members receive an email with a sign-in link. They don't need to create an account separately — the invite link handles it.

Roles

RoleWhat they can do
AdminInvite members, manage settings, create and delete initiatives
MemberCreate and edit initiatives, raise clarifications, view all workspace content
ViewerRead-only access to all initiatives and plans

Signing out

Click your avatar in the top-right corner and select Sign out. Your session is cleared immediately.

Troubleshooting

I didn't receive a sign-in email. Check your spam folder. The email comes from noreply@penlingapp.com. If it's not there after two minutes, try again — occasionally a link expires before delivery.

The sign-in link says it's expired. Links are valid for 10 minutes. Request a new one from the sign-in page.

I'm in the wrong workspace. Use the workspace switcher in the top-left to move between workspaces you belong to.
